FUTURES '11 -- 600km Cycle Challenge
FUTURES '11 -- 600km Cycle Challenge
Story
My name is Ingrid-Grace and I first got involved with Project Futures through a fundraiser screening of the documentary ‘Call and Response’ which aims to unearth the world’s dirtiest secrets – that there is estimated to be 27 million slaves worldwide. I immediately signed up for Project Futures 2010.
I was fortunate enough to meet some of the amazing girls aged from 3 onwards, who had been rescued from brothels in Cambodia and are now being educated, rehabilitated and loved in shelters founded by Somaly Mam, a survivor herself.
We CAN do something to make a difference. These girls need your help to have their voices heard and be voices for change in our world. Please join me in the fight to end this evil trade and support me in my 600km ride through Laos and Cambodia to raise funds for Project Futures.
- $10 helps to provide english classes to young survivors
- $30 provides and exam and blood test for a girl rescued from sexual slavery
- $50 provides counselling and rehabilitation to a girl in a shelter for 5 months
- $100 provides outreach and prevention materials to dozens of children at risk
- $500 provides a survivor with everything she needs to start her own business
- $1000 covers the cost of a psychologist for one year
